National Security

September 11, 2001 changed our lives forever. It changed how we view ourselves and our place on the international stage. Our nation now faces numerous threats at home and abroad.

As we secure our nation, we must uphold the basis upon which the country was founded. Our number one priority must be the prevention of another terrorist attack on American soil, while preserving the rights and freedoms that characterize our nation. We need a domestic and foreign policy that provides Americans with the security that they expect and deserve.

We must demonstrate to our enemies and our allies that our strength is derived from the principles outlined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. If we abandon or compromise our principles, we will provide our enemies with their greatest victory.

I will work to secure our borders, power plants, ports, harbors and refineries. I will actively work to define a new immigration policy and to end our dependence on an energy source that exposes our economy and security to the passing impulses of overseas petroleum barons.

I will ensure that the Department of Homeland Security, affiliated agencies, our troops and our first responders have the tools necessary to protect and secure our country. However, I will oppose all legislation that erodes the rights of the American people as defined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
