Although individual in nature, the following issues impact each other and quality of life for residents of the 6th District, land preservation, agricultural preservation, natural resources, infrastructure and access to public transportation.
Due to the raising price of gas and the associated ripple effect, the funding of future transportation projects in Maryland may be at risk. We need to look towards Washington for assistance with future projects and move forward with existing mass transportation projects where funds have already been allocated.
In Carroll County, the projects include, MD 26 improvements to provide access, operational and safety enhancements to the roadway; MD 140 projects to develop transportation options that meet the future travel demands of an increasing population, address capacity problems, and improve the overall accessibility to I795 and I695.
In Frederick County, projects include, improvements in the I-270/US 15 corridor in Montgomery and Frederick counties from Shady Grove Metro Station to north of Biggs Ford Road; Improvements to I70 and interchange points with I15 and I270.
In the bedroom communities of Northern Baltimore and Harford counties, we must address the overcrowding of roads and check unbridled development. To reduce road congestion we must look towards the expansion of Mass Transportation systems throughout the 6th district.
