“It's business as usual in Washington as the average American struggles to make ends meet, deals with the consequences of rising energy costs, unemployment, a failed immigration policy, a problematic Social Security and Medicare system, rising healthcare cost, a devalued dollar and an uncertain economic future. Our message to cut spending continues to fall on deaf ears. On the surface, cuts in appropriations give the appearance of fiscal responsibility; peel away the layers and you discover that it is business as usual inside the beltway. Proposed cuts are no more than symbolic gestures to appease fiscal conservatives and Tea Party activists. In one resolution, over $4.7 billion remained, hidden in plain sight, as special interest earmarks. We are facing an uncertain future if the deficit and debt ceiling are not addressed in a rational, balanced and cautious manner. We must take a stand against special interest, make the hard choices to reduce spending, balance the budget, and end the limitless borrowing that has led to a national debt, soon to exceed $14.5 trillion. We need to place a cap on spending and immediately initiate cuts in mandatory and discretionary programs. The career politicians we send to Washington, again and again, are not part of the solution, they are at the root cause of the problems we face as a nation and they have become the American Aristocracy. The recently passed Maryland Dream Act, as well as Illinois’, the federal act and others pending, have nothing to do with immigration reform and in fact obstruct enforcement of US immigration law. Amnesty programs, and make no mistake about it these are amnesty programs, with impunity encourage people to enter the country illegally and ignore our laws. Amnesty programs undermine law enforcement, demoralize those entering the country legally and cause those waiting for entry to question why they should play by the rules, when so many don't and benefit by their actions. All three branches of the government must enforce the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1996. We are at a crossroads. The election of 2010 was the first volley; the election of 2012 will be the second American Revolution and a turning point in American government. Whether they are republican, democrat or independent, it doesn't matter; enough is enough. It’s time for a new generation of constitutional republicans to lead the nation, bring real change to Congress and hand out pink slips to entrenched career politicians in 2012”.
